DELAWARE

MARYLAND

-Aberdeen: Veteran Compost is a veteran-run residential composting business that picks up your food scraps in bins that they provide.

-Baltimore: Compost Cab is a once-a-week compost pickup service that comes straight to your home - they deliver a composting kit with a collection bin and liner to your door, and then return weekly to pick it up and replace it for a small fee. Similarly, Compost Crew offers weekly compost pickups in bins that they provide (they'll also service apartment buildings and events!).

NEW JERSEY

-Northern New Jersey: Community Compost Company offers compost pickup for residents and businesses in and around Hoboken and Jersey City. They also maintain drop-off sites throughout the region, if you're traveling and want somewhere to drop off food scraps; you can find one near you here.

NEW YORK

-Albany area: Empire Zero offers weekly curbside compost pickup from your home, apartment, or small business for a fee. Or, purchase a subscription to the Radix Center's Community Compost Initiative, here.

-Beacon: If you live in Beacon and you don't have room for a compost pile in your yard (or in your schedule!), you can sign up for the great pickup service offered by the Beacon Compost Project.

-Erie County: Through the Green Communities Project, you can buy weekly compost pickups for food scraps.

-Hudson Valley: Community Compost Company offers compost pickup for residents and businesses in the Hudson Valley. They also maintain drop-off sites throughout the region, if you're traveling and want somewhere to drop off food scraps; you can find one near you here.

-New York City: NYC makes it so easy to compost your food waste with many free drop-off points around the city. Find a drop-off site near you, here. Grow NYC accepts compost drop-offs at 50+ farmers' markets throughout the city, including Union Square. (You can store your compost in the freezer or in a five-gallon bucket on your balcony in between weekly or biweekly trips to the drop-off sites). East Village residents can also subscribe to Reclaimed Organics' bicycle-powered pickup service, or drop off their compost at their deposit box (which is kept locked - you have to subscribe in advance). If you live in Bushwick, North Bedstuy, or South Ridgewood, the awesome youth and bicycle powered BK ROT offers doorstep compost pickup for a really reasonable fee. You can also drop off your compost at Bushwick Food Co-op - a good option if you're outside BK ROT's service radius, or if you're just visiting the area.

-Niagara County: Through the Green Communities Project, residents can access affordable weekly compost pickups for food scraps.

-Rochester area: Community Composting offers residential pickup; they'll deliver an empty bucket to your home or apartment and replace it weekly.

PENNSYLVANIA

-Pittsburgh: Shadyside Worms will pickup your compost from your home or apartment in a bucket they provide, and return it to you as fertilizer, if you'd like.

-Philadelphia: For your home or apartment, Bennett Composting offers weekly pickup for a small fee - they provide the bucket, you provide the food scraps! You can also drop off compost, both food scraps and yard waste, at the Dirt Factory in University City. If you're traveling and need a place to compost just a handful of things, stop by the United By Blue coffee shop in Old City or on the University of Pennsylvania campus to purchase a coffee and put your compost in their bins. You can also drop off small amounts of compost at Bodhi Coffee in Headhouse Market on 2nd Street, or at certain Whole Foods stores.

VIRGINIA

-Charlottesville area: Through Black Bear Composting, residents of Charlottesville or Crozet can subscribe to a weekly food and yard waste pickup service - they'll even provide you with finished compost to use in your garden, if you'd like!

-Harrisonburg: With Black Bear Composting, you can subscribe to a weekly food and yard waste pickup service for your home, apartment, or small business - they can even provide you with finished compost, if you want it!

-Northern Virginia: If you live in Arlington, Alexandria, or Fairfax, Compost Crew offers weekly curbside compost pickups (they'll also service apartment buildings and events!).

-Reston: Visit the Reston Farmers' Market to drop off your compost at their booth.

-Waynesboro area: In Waynesboro and Staunton, Black Bear Composting offers a weekly food and yard waste pickup service for residents, at a small fee - they'll even provide you with finished compost to use in your garden.

WASHINGTON, D.C.

-Washington, D.C.: Compost Cab is a once-a-week compost pickup service that comes straight to your home - they deliver a composting kit with a collection bin and liner to your door, and then return weekly to pick it up and replace it for a small fee.
